GTA 6 PS5 File Size Has Been Reported, and It's an Absolute Monster

If you were wondering how much space you'd need on your PS5's SSD for GTA 6, well, it seems the answer is "a lot."

X user PlayStation Game Size, who pretty reliably surfaces the install sizes for games on PS5, has reported the file size for the hotly anticipated open world crime action title, and I think you're probably gonna need to clear some room.

According to them, GTA 6 will eat up a whopping 210 GB:

Yes, if this report is accurate, you'll need to clear a massive amount of storage space just for GTA 6.

If you still have a launch model PS5 and haven't upgraded its SSD at all, the game will require around a third of the available space on that drive.

It should come as little surprise to learn this is a big, chunky game; GTA 5 wants a minimum of 148.2 GB, according to its PS Store page. The follow-up was always going to be a good portion more than that.

It's interesting to think about this in the context of the game's lack of physical release. Assuming the number is correct, GTA 6 would've needed possibly three blu-rays.

That would be an even larger number for Xbox Series X, which uses lower-capacity discs.

Maybe this was a contributing factor to the physical edition foregoing discs altogether in favour of a download code; lower manufacturing costs, and no need to figure out how to squeeze multiple discs in one game box.

The only other solution would've been to do a Switch 2-style game key disc, requiring you to download most or all of the game.

Anyway, GTA 6 is now just a few weeks away, launching on 19th November 2026. Fortunately, you will be able to pre-load the game a full week ahead of time, per the PS Store — a blessing for those with slower download speeds.
