Publisher tinyBuild and developer Mandragora announced that their Y2K-era electronics repair simulation game, ReStory, has surpassed 500,000 copies sold.
A free update is also scheduled for September 21, adding a new repairable device and another customer.
ReStory puts players in charge of an electronics repair business in Y2K-era Japan. Customers bring in devices such as cell phones, game consoles, handhelds, digital pets, music players, cameras, and home appliances. Repairs involve tasks such as disassembly, cleaning, soldering, repainting, and reassembly.
Shop management runs alongside the repair mechanics. Players accept orders, manage their finances, and purchase replacement components through an old-school in-game web browser. Decisions made during conversations with customers can affect their individual stories and the shop through a branching story.
The selection of repairable hardware also includes officially licensed Atari systems. The game features the Atari 2600 and Jaguar.
ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs is available on PC via Steam.
